It is really hard to please everybody.
Just when i thought that everything was "near perfect", I go to the running fora and I see so many complaints. Well, first things first though, the kudos far outweighed the thumbs down.
Leg 3 of the RU 2012 trilogy was blessed with a torrent of rain. At least, only one hated the rain for bearing down on the runners - and I can't help but laugh at that silly comment even. It was a blessing, for crying out loud! It cooled everybody down and I bet all the 21k and 32k runners agree.
There is so much hydration that you can literally drown yourself with it. There was plenty of bananas, too! I passed 2 stations and the PICC station even offered me two but I declined one since the finish was quite near and in consideration of runners behind me.
There were enough trash bins for cups, but educated runners we may be, but we are the worst culprit when it comes to disposing our cups. In my case, I hurled my cup in the nearest Orocan can thinking it was a trash bin!!! Sorry Manang, manong manning Hydration Station 2. Good intent, bad eyes. The trash bins were at the end of the hydration stations. My bad! I knew better in the next stations.
While there were no distance markers, it was no big deal for me, but it was for the majority who had no way of knowing where they stand on distance. I read there was one at the 16km mark but was brought down for safety's sake. Still, the UTurn markers should have at least indicated something.
Some of the things that piques me every time is the complain on freebies or loots. And I would just conclude, "beginner runner siguro ito." Am I wrong? If you are a serious runner or a health buff at the least, the loot is just an afterthought. The thing you'd ask would be: correct distance? improve on PR for distance? safe run? hydrated well? had fun?
Mali din naman that people who did not run loot the loots, and this is the organizer's responsibility. But even then, should this weigh more than one's goal in running?
Did you shell out the money for the run or you are spending them for the "FREEBIES"? Maybe both, but if you let the second cloud the goal of the first, you'd better off spending the money on something else then. Why race and tire yourself out for freebies?
Think again. Runner or spender?
